ABOUT ABOUT

ARB 101
Welcome to the wonderful world of the Quran!

15 Sunday mornings beginning March 5th - June 4th, 2017 9-10:30  am

“[This is] a blessed Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], that they might reflect upon its verses and that those of understanding would be reminded.” (38:29)

About the course:

This is a twelve week course based on Shaykh Abdus Salam Nadwi’s ‘Ten Lessons of Arabic’ which was written for the residents of his locality and without surprise, owing to it’s simple approach and brevity, quickly earned great success and a wide readership of both young and old Qur’an language students. It was later adopted as an introductory text in hundreds of ‘Alim programs throughout the Indian sub-continent, Europe and North America where it continues to aid scores of students to overcome the challenges of Arabic.

Who is this course for ?

This is an introductory course for all brothers and sisters over 16 who wish to begin their journey to learn and understand basic classical Arabic, thereby developing a deep appreciation for the majestic Quran and Hadith. This is the first segment of our al-‘Arabiyyah program with many more to come inshallah.

Course Objectives:

The focus of this course will be the language of the Qur’an, using simple grammar and vocabulary building. Our focus will not be on spoken Arabic, as this will be covered in Semester 2! Upon completion of the course, students will, insha Allah, understand basic Quranic verses and their composition without the aid of translations.

Requirements:

Ability to recognize conjoined Arabic letters and vowels (Fatha, Kasra Damma, Tanween etc) is required whilst reciting the Quran in Arabic will be helpful.
